Borders of the Sky

Say Hello to the Mafia
Guess Who's Back?

Nov. 6
Stan and Shane lead their group of fugitives west down the alleys, stopping to break into a clothes shop on the way. They take off in their planes as spotlights shine on them. They get a few miles out of town when six Miraitekku Zeroes catch up to them and go after the cargo planes. A short dogfight later, and they make it back to the Mjolnir.

Nov. 7
Meanwhile, Jacen goes to the mafia-controlled restaurant and is introduced to an old friend: Don Angelino. They talk and Jacen is eventually convinced (after talking to his boss, Falcone) to “join” Angelino (but not trust him). He meets with the real Falcone men in northeast Denver and gets them to offer some help. He then heads back to the Mjolnir.
That evening, they get a call on the radio from the Falcone men, and arrange a meeting place for the help to arrive – six men and three stunt planes.

HELLO MAFIA!!!

Mass Escape at Federal Prison!

We are getting reports from the east side of Denver of shots and possible explosions at the Colorado Federal Prison compound. Witnesses report nearly all of the inmates escaping. I repeat this: it is highly possible that dozens of convicted murderers and other criminals are now on the streets of Denver. Citizens are advised to stay indoors and keep doors and windows locked until this situation is dealt with. Please cooperate with local police and CBI investigators, in order to speed the process of recapturing these fugitives.

Yet Another Prison Break
Tired of them, yet?

Nov. 5
The FBI contacts the Mjolnir and arranges to make a supply and troop drop the next day.
The crew and Randy (one of the resistance fighters) steal a car and go to an Italian restaurant downtown. Jacen scouts out some fellow mafiosos and get their help finding Garvan, a CBI operative with tax evasion problems. He talks to him and convinces him that he is a lawyer, and arranges to meet at the prison the next night.
They get a hotel and Jacen goes to his mafia contacts and doesn’t learn much.

Nov. 6
Jacen scouts out the prison and they get a call from the Mjolnir saying that the FBI had made the drop. Our heroes request 6 agents with snipers and explosives come assist. They arrive an hour later.
They set up about 7PM and Jacen Stan, Shane, and Randy go in.
They pose as lawyers and talk to a couple of their men. They convince the head guard to let them examine the cells and claim that there is black mold in them and threaten to shut them down. The guards examine the cells as the trio is ushered back to the lobby and told that the cells will be cleaned and the prisoners moved to the yard.
They go to the yard to “talk to their clients.” And form a plan for another prison break.
Shane goes outside and slips some plastic explosive on a guard tower and waltz toward a guard. The explosive goes off and the tower tips into the yard.
Shane hits the guard, knocks him out, and takes his gun. Jacen draws his guns and shoots a guard. The snipers open fire and the prisoners swarm the guards. The escapees run to the fallen tower and climb over it. Jason goes to their stolen car and drives it to another guard tower and lights the gas tank on fire. It explodes as the prisoners escape into the streets.

A Big Mess
What the $%^$?

Nov. 2
Shane gets a message from Stan and Jacen and joins them at the zeppelin to help with repairs. It goes smoothly, and they get it flyable. Jacen leaves that night to find mob help. He finds some old friends and gets them to agree to help.
That night, the CBI attacks the zeppelin and arrests Stan, Shane, and half the crew, but the other half manages to hide.
Nov. 3
Jacen hears of the arrest the next morning and plans to break them out (again) but is contacted by a mysterious man and agrees to meet in Central Park. It is Bobby from the RMPD, who tells him he is with them, and that the CBI has been watching the Resistance for a couple days. They decide to get Jacen into the prison to break them out.
They are now all in prison, and taken to see Lindsay, who offers to let them go if they leave and never return. Jacen pulls a gun, and they settle on a compromise – they would be led out of the building.
They get to the stairs and are met by guards with guns drawn. Luckily, three of the guards are RMPD, undercover. They assist, and the CBI gets locked into an interogation room and our heroes escape in a getaway car.
They get to the warehouse and evacuate to the zeppelin, where they find the rest of the crew and move to a wooded area for cover.
Nov. 4
Jacen contacts his mob contacts and doesn’t learn much.
They send a person to do a dead drop in Central Park for Bobby and learns an insecure frequency, which they use and learn that Hans, Dmitri, and Don were captured by the CBI and that’s all Bobby knows. They also learn that the CBI does not know the Resistance’s location.

Of course the top story today is the attack and jail-break last night at CBI Headquarters, where 19 Federalists escaped and are still at large. CBI is investigating.
Meanwhile, the vote goes well, with initial polls coming to 81% for, 19% against, as resolve strengthens as Utah and Wyoming also begin secession votes.
The Sino-Jap war continues to rage, as the US sends yet more aid to the Chinese, while neglecting its people back home.
Denver’s weather will be mostly sunny, high near 48.

Mjolnir In Danger
The Mjolnir Falls Under Attack!

The night of the jailbreak, Jacen Moore and Stan Clarke sit up in the offices, unable to sleep, and talk about the events unfolding.
Suddenly, the radio crackles and the standing captain of the Mjolnir calls for Stan, saying that the Mjolnir was just ordered to land. They decide to ignore the warning. Moments later, the zeppelin falls under attack by Colorado Bureau of Investigation aircraft. Our two heroes rush to their planes to assist.
Fifteen minutes later, they spot the Mjolnir, which has a full fifth of its canvas missing and smoldering around the edges. After a quick recap from the crew, Jacen and Stan learn that the enemy is using heavy rockets – the equivalent of aerial torpedoes – that can easily puncture the armored hide of the Mjolnir and detonate inside the Hydrogen gasbags, ripping it to shreds.
A dogfight ensues. The Mjolnir deploys its meager contingent of three planes and fires with its turrets against the enemy’s dozen planes.
After many close calls, our heroes take down the CBI with no casualties of their own, though nearly half of the zeppelin has been ripped to shreds and is unable to progress further.
They land in a tree-filled valley to hide and do repairs.

Jailbreak
The group performs a daring jailbreak from the CBI prison!

Shane and Jacen adopt the Warehouse for their resistance. They land their planes in the hangar.
They hear that all of the Rocky Mountain states are talking to secede with Colorado and that fights are breaking out at polling stations. They decide to get Shane arrested in order to break out the Loyalists getting arrested at the fights.

The next morning, Shane walks into CBI HQ and hits the receptionist, knocking him out. He then walks into Lindsay’s office. He is arrested, and taken across the street to the prison.
Jacen contacts Stan, who decides to take his plane to the warehouse.
During yard time, Shane talks to the imprisoned loyalists and attempts to recruit them.
That night, Jacen and Stan set fire to the CBI headquarters. They then enter the prison and bluff their way to Shane’s cell. They knock out the guard, steal the keys, and break out Steve and eight other loyalists. They then encounter another guard and lock him in a cell after knocking him out. They release four more people and head downstairs, release six more people, then confiscate some weapons from the evidence room.
They escape out the yard and split into three groups. Jacen’s group encounters muggers, but the man intimidates them into leaving. Stan almost gets lost in a group of theatre goers as they leave the theatre, but through good leadership holds the group together. Shane almost gets caught by a police officer, but talks his way out with little trouble. They all then meet up at the Warehouse.

Catch-Up
The Story So Far

We began our story on October 23, 1938, as the Queen Annabelle travels from New York City to Los Angeles. In Colorado, however, it is attacked by pirates. Only Shane Gibson survives.

October 24, 1938
He wakes up in the hospital of the Rocky Mountain Police Department‘s Pike’s Peak Headquarters. He is informed by Bobby, head of police, that the Annabelle was attacked and the whole cargo bay stolen. Before they can learn any more, however, the station falls under attack by a flight of bombers. Bobby leaves to fight the battle, leaving Shane in the safety of the station.
However, Shane comes across three men – a German, a Russian, and a Mafioso, who recognize him as the sole Annabelle survivor and attack him. He manages to hold his own long enough that they flee to their aircraft. Shortly after, the station shakes with explosions. Shane escapes in a RMPD Ballerina aircraft and shoots down two planes in the ensuing dogfight.
He then rejoins the police at Perry Station.

October 25, 1938
Stan Clarke is assigned to the case and they learn that the Annabelle was carrying a top-secret cargo. Shane then remembers the airship stopping in Denver to refuel, and speculates that that is where they picked up the cargo.
They don’t get a chance to investigate, however, as Perry Station detects an enemy zeppelin approaching.
The police force, with Stan and Shane, take to the air to fight off the threat. They find a heavily armored zeppelin with four full flights of aircraft. During the long battle, enemy pilot Jacen Moore turns and begins attacking the zeppelin, claiming over the radio that he doesn’t support attacking these civilians. Eventually, all enemy planes are destroyed and the zeppelin is disabled.
Our three heroes board the zeppelin and find it deserted, save for the mafioso who attacked Pike Station. He surrenders without a fight, much to the surprise of the others.
Shane interrogates the man and finds his name to be Don Angelino. The jailbird sings that his compatriots are Hans Gustav and Vladimir Dimitri. They were set up as an alliance to steal the cargo of the Queen Annabelle, though he will not say what that cargo is.
They then take a break from interrogation for lunch, but while Shane, Stan, and Jacen stuff their faces, allies of Don sneak in and release their boss. Responding quickly, the three heroes stop him and return him to jail.

October 26, 1938
The next morning, they are met by Bradley, head of the FBI. He informs them that Don Angelino is to be transferred to Federal custody on matters of national security. He also offers the three jobs as FBI agents to assist in the Annabelle investigation. They accept.

October 27, 1938
So the five of them go to FBI regional headquarters in western Denver and are told the whole story.
The Annabelle picked up two things in Denver: a prototype engine, called a jet, and plans for a powerful weapon that could destroy a whole city.

October 28, 1938
They then decided head out to investigate the wreckage of the Queen Annabelle.
Upon arrival, the wreckage is gone, and the field empty. There is, however, a lone airplane scouting the area. Our heroes pursue it, but it notices them and attacks. They shoot it down with no trouble and interrogate the pilot to discover the location of the Alliance base.
They return the prisoner to FBI headquarters but don’t tell Bradley anything about the interrogation and decide to scout out the enemy base on their own.
Hiding in the trees, they can see a small base and two small cargo zeppelins. They scout overnight and then send Stan back to FBI HQ to report while the other two sneak onto one of the airships.

October 29, 1938
Stan is met by an angry Bradley, who berates him for not reporting to him about the interrogation. However, Bradley knows that nothing can be accomplished from arguing, so he forgives and they plan tactics. They decide to wait for communication from Shane and Jacen before sending in the zeppelin that had attacked Perry Station, been captured, and then confiscated by the FBI.
Meanwhile, Shane and Jacen board the enemy zeppelin and successfully get into the cargo bay with few problems. There they find the plans and engine prototype. After sneaking into the communications room and neutralizing the technicians, they send a radio message to the FBI to come and assist.
The two of them then return to the cargo bay to secure the stolen cargo.
They are met by Vlad, who attempts a monologue, but unfortunately for him, he is flanked by his two enemies and gets a knife to his throat. His minions surrender, and Stan arrives with the zeppelin, keeping the enemy from fleeing by destroying their engines.
They all meet up in the FBI zeppelin to debrief. They are informed that both zeppelins have copies of the bomb research and mock-ups of the Jet Engine – they had already been copied.
They knew this meant that the German also must have copies, so they tracked him to a warehouse in east Denver.

October 30, 1938
Before the planed attack, Shane is given a ray gun that cannot kill, which makes him very happy, as he has previously only used his boken and refused to kill.
On the other side of the coin, though, a wrench is tossed into the works when the head of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Lindsay Riverston, confronts Bradley, telling him that the CBI is taking over the investigation and that the FBI must leave. Shane and Jacen interject and calm the situation, allowing them to complete this operation on the warehouse.

October 31, 1938
Stan and Shane went in and attacked the warehouse on foot, leaving Jacen in the zeppelin a few blocks away for support.
Stan and Shane fail to sneak in undetected, and fight a small squad of German soldiers and two Japanese swordsmen. They appear to be losing when Jacen crashes in and saves the day.
They interrogate one of the swordsmen and learn that he was merely a mercenary. Shane takes his katana and the two FBI units who accompanied Jacen lead him to FBI HQ.
The three heroes go downstairs and are met by three heavily armored pyros. The battle is short but deadly. They barely make it out alive, but they rest before descending once more…
There they find Hans and his team of four genetically altered Brutes, who pound the three relentlessly. Shane finds himself springing a mustard gas trap and being badly poisoned as he is attacked by two Brutes, who seem to be rejuvenated by the gas.
Jacen and Stan take on the other two Brutes with little effort before charging in to assist Shane. Jacen runs afoul of a flame trap but manages to put out the fire and attacks Hans, but is met with a tear gas grenade and put out of commission for the battle.
Stan helps Shane finish off the Brutes and they join the attack on Hans. Unfortunately, he activates a smoke screen.
When the smoke clears, he is gone, but Shane finds the secret door and they pursue him through an underground hangar, stopping him before he can board a zeppelin. However, the ceiling opens up and all six airships as well as two dozen BF109 airplanes take off and disappear into the distance, but not before Jacen kills the pilot of one and sends it spiraling into a nearby building.
They return to FBI HQ to find a furious Lindsay, who demands they leave the state and never return. They protest, but are met with a dozen guns pointed at them, so they comply, take their prisoners (now Hans, Vlad, Don, the pilot and the Japanese swordsman), and leave the city.
Stan takes the zeppelin at minimum speed toward the border and contacts Bradley. He learns that they are trying to contact the president on the matter, but the airwaves are packed and messages cannot get through that far. He is also made captain of the zeppelin, which he names Mjolnir.
Shane and Jacen land outside Denver and return to town on foot. They go to the newspaper to try to get the whole story printed, hoping that it would shame the CBI into giving up the fight. When they arrive, they learn that the Colorado governor is about to give a public address. They stay and hear the address. The governor calls for a public vote to decided if Colorado should seceded from the United States, and encourages other states to do the same. He is met with riotous applause. Jacen and Shane slip away unnoticed and contact Stan, who had heard the address on the radio. They share information and decide to try to start a resistance, as well as attempt to discover if the CBI is affiliated with the Alliance.
